Today more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of stress management and worklife balance in their daily in their daily lives.
However everyone experiences stress at some time, whether it be in our personal lives or our working lives. Feeling stressed is not a sign of failure, it is a normal reaction and more a sign of the times, and stress management skills are fast becoming the survival skills needed for the 21st Century.
What causes stress for one person will not necessarily cause stress for another. This depends on each individuals life experiences and coping strategies and what actually acts as the trigger for each person.
It is important to remember that it is not the event or situation that causes the stress, but how you choose to react to that event or situation. However because this choice is normally made by your unconscious mind you will not be consciously aware that you have made any choice. It is therefore useful to be able to learn how to recognise your own patterns in life, what triggers your stress patterns, and how to develop strategies to deal with it.
