Clostridium
difficile bacteria are present in our body as normal flora
and without any harm. These bacteria become pathogen when the person uses
antibiotics to treat any infection. These antibiotics kill the bacteria but
provide opportunity to C.difficile to grow as pathogen. That is why antibiotics
are
not recommended to treat C. Difficile. This infectious disease is being spread
around hospitals constantly, without nurses being assigned to isolation
wards there is still a threat of repeat infection. There seems to be no cases of
C.Diffiicile within the private sector so what is going wrong within our NHS
hospitals. Before we spend more money on a scheme using copper plating to
reduce the spreading of infection within wards, can’t we look at any other
preventative methods?
