In the grip of the credit crunch impacting on our day to day lives many
families are now struggling with the increased demands on their
domestic overheads. This has thereby forced many workers to extend
their working hours or take additional jobs on board to help meet their
increasing overheads. Many families have had to make significant cut
backs in their spending and this has greatly impacted on their quality
of lives. Long working hours and increased stress is believed to have a
direct impact on reducing such individuals health, resulting in Depression and chronic illness.
Symptoms of depression are: changes in mood, with sadness, indifference
to things that are usually pleasure, decrease in the usual level of
functioning, and often, there are changes in functioning of the
function of biological processes like sleep, appetite, energy, and
sexual functioning. At times these functions decrease, at other times
they will increase. Some people will have increased sleep and/or
appetite; others, or at other times, will have decreased sleep and/or
appetite. Researchers have concluded that homeopathy
may be useful in the treatment of some patients with anxiety or
depression, either as an adjunctive treatment or as a sole treatment in
patients who specifically request it.(Davidson J, et.al, 1997,
"Homeopathic Treatment of Depression and Anxiety", Alternative
Therapies, Vol.3, No.1, January)

Recent research shows that a high level of vitamin C can significantly reduce the risk of developing diabetes….by up to sixty two percent.
Beneficial levels can only be achieved by eating a diet rich in fruit and vegetables and supplementing with 1gram vitamin C each day.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant which helps protect blood vessels from the damaging effects of oxidation to which we are all exposed. Oxidative stress can also disturb blood sugar levels and lead to hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar levels). It is also found to be higher in people with diabetes.
The diet should include foods such as broccoli, strawberries, peppers, kiwi fruit and citrus fruit. Choose fresh or frozen vegetables and eat within a short time of purchase as levels of this protective vitamin decrease rapidly with time. Also, to preserve the vitamin, cook for a minimum amount of time and use cooking water for sauces, gravies.
Other factors important in lowering diabetes risk include keeping weight within normal limits, obtaining plenty of exercise and limiting intake of high fat and sugar foods.
Food intolerance can lead to weight gain, despite following a low calorie diet.
If you are intolerant to a certain food, the body produces the antibody IgG which in turn increases inflammation in the body. This then causes water retention and bloating in addition to other signs of food intolerance such as headaches, aching joints and IBS. Wheat, dairy products and sugar, eaten frequently cause a ‘feel good’ factor in the body so we tend to eat more of them – but they are some of the worst for causing inflammation and weight gain.
